Time to ride on Icelandic terrain! Begin by fatbiking (fatties included) in lunar landscapes, followed by lobster soup at a small restaurant in a fishing village. Take a dip in the pleasantly warm, mineral-rich waters of the geothermal pool, located in the middle of a dramatic lava field. Today, lunch will be included.
Make your way to the heliport before jumping in a helicopter for a scenic route to a nearby volcano. By the foot of the mountain a superjeep with the bikes will be waiting - heli slings the bikes up to the top of the mountain. Everchanging technical singletrack down the volcano. On the way, stop to witness the earth bubbling in this geothermal area. The superjeep waits at the foot of the mountain to bring you to the Edge trail, a flowy technical trail that is the locals favourite. After the ride: Superjeep takes you back to the hotel in Reykjavík, there in time for dinner.Today breakfast & lunch are included.
Day 4 | Highlands | August 15, 2017
The early superjeep shuttle up to Hekla – Iceland’s most active volcano – is an adventure in itself. The exotic volcanic landscape that you'll ride in the morning is rivalled only by the vividly colored Landmannalauger singletracks of the afternoon that ends with a dip in a natural hot spring pool. These are truly some of the local's favorite trails and gravel roads in the highlands. After an exhilarating day, retire to the huts with an optional evening ride in the surrounding area. Today breakfast, lunch & dinner are included.
Day 5 | Ride in a Postcard | August 16, 2017
The rich contrast of black sand and bright glaciers starts the day with breathtaking views. Pedal through the colourful Rhyolite mountains and wind down a steep trail to a green oasis on lush river banks. The wildly-formed canyons along this section of fast singletrack reflect back to an age when our mother earth was still in her infancy. To cap this choice day of riding, our end point provides an unforgettable panorama of distant glaciers and azure lakes. Today breakfast, lunch & dinner are included.
Day 6 | Þórsmörk | August 17, 2017
Our superjeep once again delivers as you travel into the Þórsmörk area. 2.5 hours drive on the superjeep to Seljalandsfoss waterfall and then ice cave at a “Gígjökull” glacier outlet at the foot of Eyjafjallajökull. An area of stark contrast Þórsmörk has birch woods, black sands and is surrounded by glaciers on 3 sides. To get to the cabins you’ll cross unbridged rivers using the super jeeps. There are stunning hiking trails there as well as diverse landscapes and a beautiful trail up to Eyjafjallajökull glacier and infamous volcano. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
Day 7 | Skógar Waterfall | August 18, 2017
Last day riding in the Þórsmörk area! The superjeep drives you to Skógar waterfall and up the mountain for a great singletrack trail following a river with endless waterfalls. The trails form the last part of a famous hiking trail called “Fimmvörðuháls”. In the evening we drive back to Reykjavík. Today, breakfast and lunch are included.
